Archie is a 40 lb 2 year old whippet who wants an adventure buddy!  He loves to get in the car and go explore. No noise or environment sensitivities noted including giant in motion halloween decorations, and loves people. Does well in an urban setting walking around, but is uneasy yet in large stranger crowds. He overall has a very confident and curious demeanor and the more exposure he gets, the calmer he is in that situation. Archie has been on multiple hikes. He crates well at home next to another dog, howls a bit before settling if left alone at home (non-destructive), or car crates well even by himself. He loves children but I would recommend older children only as he is rambunctious at times

Archie came to me not potty trained, but has made leaps and bounds in that area- no accidents in my house in a couple weeks, but has still tried to pee inside at work a few times. Respects a belly band.

Archie has selective dog reactivity- he cannot be housed with an intact male, but he will stand close to one and any growl is easily redirected. Archie can take a while to warm up to a new dog playmate but will walk next to other dogs- just doesn’t want their attention. He is great with my MN teenage whippet but took a few days to actively play and sleep together. I have not seen leash/walk reactivity other than mild pulling/curiosity towards dogs- he spends the work day at a vet clinic with many strange dogs (including intact males) walking past on the other side of a baby gate and ignores them.
Archie may have potential for dog sports- he has base confidence and is springy, athletic, and fast.

Archie’s ideal home does not have an intact male dog and is active household with a fenced yard for him to explore or do regular walks and hikes. I think he would do great as a solo dog as well.

The ideal home needs to have some dog experience to continue to working on leash manners (pulling, jumping up on guests).

Archie is eager to please and loves hanging out with his people- but is also independent enough to sleep on his favorite dog bed in another room.
