Dash is a 2 year old neutered male who was surrendered because the two littermates he was adopted with kept picking on him and fighting with him. Dash surprised me a little when he first came here as I thought he would not get along with my dogs. He did seem a little reserved and defensive at first – barking and snarling – but now after 4 days, he can coexists with supervision (we have greyhounds and tollers). We are told he does better with whippets. He does have some resource guarding tendencies around other dogs, but has not shown any of that with people. So far, he is ok with kids, but plays a little rough when he gets the zoomies. He is super quiet in a crate and knows some commands. I believe his crate is his safe space. He is very anxious/nervous in the house and will need someone with lots of patience to deal with this. The adopter shouldn’t be a family with lots of events/paties/unknown people at the house. He is crate trained and house trained and will do his business outside and will come back in when he is done.
Dash is not a dog who will be super social with other dogs and new situations. He loves walks and hikes, but is nervous around loud noises, new people and new dogs. He is muzzled trained so he can wear that around new dogs.
Dash should have a fenced in yard, preferably 6 ft (he has leaped a 3-4ft baby gate). Dash should be adopted as an only dog because of his defensiveness. However, a calm, submissive other whippet, preferably a female, will be considered. No apartments for this boy – he’s a big barker. Absolutely NO dog parks for Dash.

WRAP does not ship dogs and prefers to place Whippets in homes within a reasonable driving distance from the foster home.
