Sam is a handsome and petite boy, weighing just 26 pounds.
Sam came to WRAP with a broken leg and had a surgical repair. He is finishing up with his recovery. He will soon be ready to go to his forever family. Sam is doing great in his foster home and loves spending time with his greyhound foster siblings. He is sweet and adorable with a big, funny personality. He loves the backyard, cuddling, and toys. We do not yet know if Sam is cat-safe. Sam has no experience with children but he seems nervous when he encounters them on walks.
The ideal family for Sam will:
*Be in the Kansas City area, within 1 hour of Liberty, MO where he will need at least one follow up vet visit.
*Have a fenced back yard. He loves spending time laying in the grass.
*Have a dog to be his companion.
*Be patient. Sam was very timid when he came into his foster family but has become relaxed, happy and comfortable at home. However, meeting new people and dogs or going to new places are all still scary for him. He’ll need someone who can be calm and patient with him as he acclimates in his new home. He’ll need someone to make him feel safe when he visits new places or meets new people.
*Not take him on lots of car rides. Sam finds car rides scary. He prefers to be held and comforted by a passenger. We assume, like other things, in time this will get better.
*Take him on walks – Walks are an important part of Sam’s recovery to build strength in his leg.
*Love cuddles. Sam needs to burrow under covers and cuddle up to his people. While he spends part of the night sleeping in a dog bed or his crate, at times he needs to sleep with his people.
*Have room for a crate. Sam finds great comfort in having a crate to relax in. When he’s not cuddling or lounging in the yard, he often chooses to nap in his crate….which he fills with his favorite toys.
*Have lots of love to give to this very sweet little boy.
