Penny (Penelope) is a six-month-old black female weighing about 21 lbs. She was surrendered by her owners who purchased her from a breeder who would not take her back. Their reason for surrender was that the puppy and a 5-year-old constituted too much energy in the house.

Penny is housebroken, crate trained, is well socialized and is all the normal things a Whippet is known for – friendly, playful and funny. She’s a people dog but does well with other dogs and especially enjoys my Whippet puppy who is close to her age. Her owners took her to “day care” regularly.

Penny does have some separation anxiety. She would do best in a home with at least one other dog and people who are not gone long hours. She does seem to gravitate more towards women than men but is not shy or afraid of men.

She’s an exceptional bed dog and will cuddle all night long. She has a healthy appetite and is not shy about letting you know when it’s time to eat! She is up to date on all vaccinations, heartworm preventive and flea preventive. She travels well (crated) with no signs of car sickness. She exhibits an interest in chasing the lure. Certainly, having fun with Fast Cat would be enjoyable for her when she’s old enough.

If you think you can offer Penny the home she needs, please fill in an application for her! She’s ready to have a fur-ever home of her own.

An adoption application is REQUIRED to be submitted before you contact a WRAP foster volunteer about this rescue or others currently available for adoption. Please submit an application. WRAP volunteers may respond to applicants and will make final decisions on adoptions. We will keep your application on file for six months.

WRAP does not ship dogs and prefers to place Whippets in homes within a reasonable driving distance from the foster home. If the WRAP volunteer fostering a dog does not live in your state you may contact them at the email address shown above to inquire after you have submitted an adoption application.
