Ralph is a beautiful shiny sleek black Whippet, who is looking for a patient and understanding adopter. At 3-4 years old, he was one of two dozen Whippets rescued from a home from an elderly owner, where he lacked basic socialization and life skills. In a foster home, Ralph prefers to feel safe in his crate. He has been fostered in a home with multiple out-going resident female whippets and a 4-month-old Dalmatian puppy who he very much enjoys playing with! His adopter will need to be patient and go slowly with him and have realistic expectations. Ralphie trusts the people giving him food, water, and shelter, but he doesn’t understand the benefits of petting, toys, cuddling. Outside, he is efficient about doing his business, and is starting to show signs of running and enjoying the yard. For his security, he’d benefit from a 5-foot fence, but he can also potty on leash. If spooked, he can hide in a tight spot and not understand why he should come out, so at this time his fosters keep him on a long leash-line while in the fenced yard to be extra safe. We truly feel he would benefit from having another dog-preferably a female to help show him the ropes. He has no history with kids and don’t think he’d appreciate the unpredictability and noise of children. He definitely would not be a candidate for a home with a cat. He also does great for a bath and having his toenails dremelled. Ralph is sensitive, and a quiet home and neighborhood will help him relax and feel safe. He has a very sweet and gentle temperament. If you are looking for a quiet roommate who keeps to himself, please consider taking baby steps with Ralph.

Please note at this time we are only considering homes that are no more than four hours from the Chicagoland area.

Patrick is approximately 3 year old white whippet with some black markings male that came from a hoarding situation. He and 18 other whippets were living all together isolated from the normal outside world. These dogs unfortunately have never been properly socialized so are slowly coming out of their shells with time and lots of patience and understanding. Patrick seems to be a very laid back dog considering his previous living situation and hopefully he will adjust easily to a new home environment. He might do best in a home with at least one other dog to help him build the confidence that he will need to thrive in her new home. Due the circumstances Patrick and all of the whippets have lived in they certainly will require a safe and structured home and we feel would not be suitable with children under 10. Currently Patrick is in boarding, but we will be moving her into a foster home where he will get acclimated in a true home type setting. Patrick weighs approximately 35 lbs and has been neutered, microchipped and up to date on his vaccines. Patrick will be working on crate training and potty training. Down the road we also feel Patrick would benefit from basic obedience training. We are also requiring a completely fenced in yard for his safety. If you think that you would be able to provide a proper home and meet the qualifications, please fill out an application. Please note at this time we are only considering homes that are no more than four hours from the Chicagoland area.
