Marvin is approximately 3 years old, mostly solid black with white chest male that came from a hoarding situation. He and 18 other whippets were living all together isolated from the normal outside world. These dogs unfortunately have never been properly socialized so are slowly coming out of their shells with time and lots of patience and understanding. Marvin seems to be somewhat outgoing considering his previous living situation and hopefully he will blossom quicker. He would probably do good in his new forever home by himself or another submissive dog that he wouldn’t be threatened by. He seems to be somewhat confident on his own. Due to the circumstances Marvin and all of the whippets have lived in, they certainly will require a safe and structured home and we feel would not be suitable with children under 10. Currently Marvin is in a foster home, so that he can get used to new sounds and activities that are in a home and enjoy the outside world. Marvin weighs approximately 35 lbs and has been neutered, microchipped and up to date on his vaccines. Nathan is working on crate training and potty training and doing great. Down the road we also feel Nathan would benefit from basic obedience training. We are also requiring a completely fenced in yard for his safety. If you think that you would be able to provide a proper home and meet the qualifications, please fill out an application. Please note at this time we are only considering homes that are no more than four hours from the Chicagoland area.

An adoption application is REQUIRED to be submitted before you contact a WRAP foster volunteer about this rescue or others currently available for adoption. Please submit an application. WRAP volunteers may respond to applicants and will make final decisions on adoptions. We will keep your application on file for six months.

WRAP does not ship dogs and prefers to place Whippets in homes within a reasonable driving distance from the foster home. If the WRAP volunteer fostering a dog does not live in your state you may contact them at the email address shown above to inquire after you have submitted an adoption application.

Amber is under 1, red brindle female that came from a hoarding situation. She is a very happy girl, though still somewhat shy … she is certainly getting used to the comforts of a home. She and 18 other whippets were living all together isolated from the normal outside world. These dogs unfortunately have never been properly socialized so are slowly coming out of their shells with time and lots of patience and understanding. With Amber being on the younger side she will hopefully blossom quicker. She might do better with another dog, or she could probably do just fine alone. The reason for another dog, would be to build her confidence. Due to the circumstances Amber and all of the whippets have lived in they certainly will require a safe and structured home and we feel would not be suitable with children under 10. Amber is now in a foster home where she is getting acclimated in a true home type setting and adjusting to all the new sights and sounds. Amber is under 25 lbs and has been spayed, microchipped and up to date on her vaccines. She is crate and potty trained.
Due to no previous training, it would felt that basic obedience training would really help her understand her new lifestyle and learn manners. We are also requiring a completely fenced in yard for her safety. If you think that you would be able to provide a proper home and meet the qualifications, please fill out an application. Please note at this time we are only considering homes that are no more than three hours from the Chicagoland area.

Barney is at a good younger age of 3! He is mostly black and white chest. Barney has come from a hoarding situation. He and 18 other whippets were all living together isolated from the normal outside world. These dogs unfortunately have never been properly socialized so it will take extra time, patience and understanding to be able to work with Barney on overcoming these areas. Barney is newly settling into his foster home and while he is still unsure of everything, he is starting to learn how to live in a normal home setting. Barney could probably adapt to his new life either alone or with another submissive dog…one that wouldn’t be a threat to him, but help build his confidence that he will need to thrive in his new home. Due to the circumstances, Barney needs a safe and structured home and it is felt that he would not be suitable with children under 10. Barney is very quiet, crate trained and appears to be potty trained. He will soon learn that walks are also a good thing for him. He currently is living with some other male and female whippets, a chihuahua and even a cat….he doesn’t seem to mind any of them. and his potty training and crate training. Even though Barney is slightly older, basic obedience training might be good for him to help him flourish in his new home. But he does need time to understand his new lifestyle. Fenced yard is mandatory. If you think that you would be able to provide a proper home and meet the qualifications, please fill out an application. Please note, at this time, we are only considering homes that are no more than three hours from the Chicagoland area.
