Meet Penny, a 9-year-old whippet with a heart as gentle as her soulful eyes. This sweet girl has quickly stolen hearts with her loving nature and calm presence. She’s the perfect mix of affectionate and easygoing, always ready to curl up close by but never demanding more than a soft word or a gentle pat. Penny is a true shadow dog—she loves to follow her person around and be part of whatever’s going on, whether it’s a quiet evening on the couch or just moving from room to room.

Penny has wonderful house manners and an endearing personality that makes her easy to live with. She’s polite, quiet, and loves her cozy spots—especially snuggling under the covers at bedtime. Her favorite thing is simply being near her people, soaking up companionship and returning it with loyalty and sweetness. She came from a home with many siblings so she’s great with other dogs and has fit right in with her current foster’s whippet and their chihuahua mix.

She would thrive in a calm, loving home where she can enjoy her golden years surrounded by comfort and care. Penny doesn’t need a lot—just a soft place to rest, gentle walks, and someone to share her unconditional love with. If you’re looking for a faithful companion who will bring warmth and affection into your life every day, Penny may be the perfect match.

If you’re within a reasonable driving distance to Huntsville, AL and you are interested in being Penny’s forever home, please complete an application at https://whippet-rescue.org/adoption-application/. Feel free to also reach out to Faith Hooper at fhoopersmith13@gmail.com with questions or additional info.

Penny came into rescue with brothers and sisters, all around her age! They were all well loved and cared for, and now they’re each looking for forever homes of their own. Many of them are in Alabama and nearby states like TN, KY, NC, and GA. So if Penny isn’t your perfect match, or you’re looking for a pup in a different area, you can still apply—one of her siblings might be the perfect match for you!

ADOPTED: Lucky, 3.5 yr old, Male, Fullerton CA

Introducing Lucky!

Lucky is a stunning 3.5 yr old black and white male whippet looking for his forever home in Southern California.

Typical of the breed, he is a very sweet, sensitive and loving boy. He loves to snuggle on the couch with his people just as much as he loves exploring his surroundings on his daily walks. He is a very affectionate dog and loves giving kisses to everyone he meets. He is generally good on lead but can pull a bit if something really interests him.

Lucky gets along well with the female and male whippets in his foster home but has not been tested with cats so would not recommend a home with cats as they interest him a bit too much on walks. He likes cuddling with the other whippets in his foster home but prefers to be the cuddler, not the cuddlee. He gets overly excited when around small dogs so homes with medium to large dogs would be best for him and his new family.

Because of his enthusiasm, the ideal home would have one or two younger, playful whippets and no small children. When he first arrived in his foster home, he would jump on people but we’ve been working on that and he’s much better now.

Lucky really loves chasing tennis balls so a yard where he can do that is a plus.

He’s a tall, stealthy boy and food on the counter is something he can’t resist, so he has taught his foster mom to make sure all food is put away. He is very food motivated and will sit and give you his paw for treats.

He is used to having someone home throughout the day and needs a home where his people are gone no longer than 4 hours at a time.

Lucky is, neutered, microchipped, up-to-date on his vaccinations, and house and crate trained.

If you are interested and think you might be a good fit, and live within 2 hours of Fullerton, CA, please submit an application.

Bug is a 9-year-old sweetheart, and her name couldn’t be more perfect—she’s a total LOVE BUG! Being next to you just isn’t close enough… she wants to be right in your lap. Snuggles are her specialty, and she’ll happily keep you company all day long.

Her tail wags are so big they turn into a full body wiggle! She gets SO excited to see you and can hardly contain her joy—greeting you with the wiggliest, happiest hello every time you walk through the door! Bug is a gentle soul with a shy side, so she’ll do best with someone patient and kind who can help her feel safe. She’s not a big fan of large dogs, but she’s used to living with Whippet brothers and sisters and would love a calm, gentle friend in her new home. Bug still needs to learn a few manners, but she’s a smart girl who knows her name and listens well to “no,” so with a little consistency she’ll settle right in.

If you’re looking for a loyal little shadow who just wants to love and be loved, Bug is your girl!

Per his foster mom – Shuks gets sweeter by the day. He does fine with my three girl whippets, learning to use a doggy door, and is fine with grandchildren – 2 and 6 years (we do supervise). He has been gentle with both dogs and kids (and adults). The only draw back I’ve found is he doesn’t like to be grabbed by his collar. He doesn’t bite or growl – just flinches. So we’re working on that. Overall he’s a very good boy! Even the vet said he was wonderful to work with today!! Shuks really wants to be loved. Kennels well, eating normally, walks on leash, does well with male and female dogs – Unknown how he would do with cats or small pets, but wouldn’t put him with a cat. Not a barker – should make somebody a very nice pet. Shuks is being fostered outside the WRAP volunteer system, so please contact Jennifer the Regional Advisor listed above for more information.

Adopted – Pippin & Finnegan – 8 y/o males, Arizona

Location Category: Now Adopted

Address: Chino Valley, Arizona

Pippin and Finnigan are eight-year-old, neutered male littermates who share an exceptionally strong bond and must remain together. They were cherished by their original owner, who recently passed away. Since then, they have been cared for by relatives and a foster, awaiting an ideal home in which to spend their remaining years. Initially reserved, both dogs quickly show a strong desire for affection and closeness with their caregivers.

Both Pip and Finn experience separation anxiety and are sensitive to loud noises, such as fireworks; however, they feel secure when crated together during these times as well as when there are brief absences. Accustomed to sleeping together in the same crate at night, Pip and Finn also appreciate opportunities to join their person on the bed. Both are quiet and gentle companions, often seeking physical contact by resting a paw on their caregiver’s foot.

Pip and Finn will use a doggie door, enjoy walks, like to chase each other in the yard and, above all, prefer cuddling with their human family members at home. They are current on vaccinations and recent bloodwork confirms they are in good health. These dogs would be ideally suited for someone who spends most of their time at home in a calm environment. They interact well with other mature, similarly-sized, calm dogs but always prefer to be with each other. They are not good candidates for a dog park, busy events or a home with active young children.

Along with a complete application, potential adopters need sighthound experience, understand these boys will be adopted together, and have the patience to help these velcro pups thrive in a new environment.
